In the After and

The Fifth Wave
The aliens are coming and it's worth reading about. In the After is about two girls, one a teenager and one a child who have survived the attack of man eating aliens by remaining silent in their secluded apartment for years. When they are rescued they think their problems are over, but the utopian society they join isn't what it seemed.
In The Fifth Wave, the aliens have unleashed wave after wave of destruction on Earth. The Fifth Wave has started: aliens that look just like humans, but have only one goal- to kill the few humans left alive. Is there anyone left to trust?

Conor is having a very bad time. His father is long gone, and now that his dad has a new wife and baby, Conor is gradually losing contact with him. His mother is undergoing yet another round of chemotherapy and she is always sick and tired. Even more disturbing, is the nightmare that haunts him almost every night.
In his nightmare the large yew tree in the cemetery behind his house is turning into a monster and coming to speak to him each night. Through three, strange stories the monster helps Conor to understand what is happening in his life and what the nightmare means.
This beautifully written story combines fairy tale, horror story and fable . This is a story that stays with you a very long time.

Karl doesn't even think of himself as a Jew; he doesn't look anything like the picture of a "typical" Jew that the Nazis hate, and his family has never been religious. When his life begins to crumble under the Nazi regime he isn't prepared. Rescue comes from an unlikely person.Max Schmerling, a boxing champion and national hero makes a deal with Karl's father to give Karl boxing lessons. Karl learns to protect himself and, as the violence against Jews escalates, to protect his family.
